In the midst of the pandemic in 2020, a virtual oasis emerged—a pixelated paradise known as Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Within it players found solace, a canvas for their imaginations, and a refuge from the tumultuous outside world. As I immersed myself in this realm during my down time, a fascinating trend caught my attention: brands were weaving their narratives within the game’s fabric. The game’s feeling, a blend of creativity and escapism, resonated with our team’s newest brand campaign.

Inspired by this, I proposed an idea to my colleagues: the creation of our very own SKIPPY island. Armed with determination, I started on a journey that spanned multiple weeks—a labor of love fueled by equal parts passion and innovation (I mean I got to “play” a game for work). Our PB Aisle island took shape, meticulously crafted to reflect our brand’s essence. Each pixel, each item lovingly placed, embodied the spirit of SKIPPY. The island layout became our canvas.

Our character, clad in custom-themed attire, strolled through the streets of PB Aisle. The synthwave colors pulsed through the land. We captured these moments, weaving them into short videos that showcased our island’s splendor. Friends and co-workers joined us, their avatars dancing alongside ours. And then, with a sense of accomplishment, we unveiled PB Aisle to the world. Anyone could visit, explore, and even don our branded attire in-game through its social island sharing.

It was a symphony of creativity and collaboration. We navigated the game’s intricacies, transforming it into a vibrant playground. Coordinating multiple avatars, recording their interactions, and blending real-world camaraderie with virtual escapades. Our PB Aisle island became a beacon of joy. 🌴🎮✨
